November 13 – 22

What happens when a dragon moves into the neighborhood? Find out in this delightful play based on the story by Kenneth Grahame. Our dragon, as magnificent as any dragon who ever took the stage, is not the fearsome type. He, like the boy who befriends him, is more interested in art and poetry. The villagers, however, assume that they are in grave danger and send for Sir George, the renowned dragon slayer to save them. With the boy’s help, Sir George learns that the dragon poses no threat to anyone, but to keep the villagers happy, he and the dragon stage a mock battle with great showmanship.

February 12 – 21

This classic tale of China’s favorite trickster features 30 spectacular puppets created in China for Tears of Joy, and was originally written and directed by seventh generation puppet master, Yang Feng. Join Monkey, his master, and the comical Bajeer on an epic journey complete with a shape-shifting bone demon, magical transformations, and kung fu!

April 2 – 11

Tears of Joy Theatre presents an all new production based on that trickster of Native American lore, Raven. Like his cousin Coyote, Raven uses his wits and cunning to get what he wants. He may be sneaky but his tricks have given us the sun, fire, and more! Raven Stories is written by Shoshone-Bannock poet and storyteller Ed Edmo and features original music.
